Current Film Projects

Catching Light with Tina Basich

The Coast Film Foundation is proud to support Catching Light, an inspiring and introspective documentary about snowboarding pioneer Tina Basich directed by Dalton Paley. A driving force behind the rise of women’s snowboarding, the film highlights Tina’s determination to find space for women within a male dominated culture. The film reveals untold stories of the sport’s early days, the rapid growth of snowboarding, and Tina’s cultivation of community within the sport. While also exploring the journey of her daughter’s complicated medical diagnosis, what begins as a mission to preserve history becomes a deeper reflection on resilience, equity, motherhood, and letting go.

In partnership with Irreverent Films and Tina Basich, the Coast Film Foundation is raising $50,000 through our fiscal sponsorship program to help bring this story to life and ensure these memories are never lost.

The Ecology Center Documentary

The Coast Film Foundation, in partnership with Dana Frankoff of Turning Tides Films, is raising $25,000 through our fiscal sponsorship program to support the production of The Ecology Center Documentary.

In collaboration with The Ecology Center and additional partners, this funding will help complete the film and bring its inspiring story of community-based sustainability to life. The Ecology Center is a 28-acre regenerative farm and education center started by surfer, Evan Marks, in order to protect the ocean from land runoff. This is the story about the people who help build and nurture the farm daily and the importance of getting back to how our ancestors took care of the land.

Purple Mountains - Live Free or Die

Purple Mountains – Live Free or Die, directed by Josh “Bones” Murphy and featuring pro snowboarder and climate advocate Jeremy Jones, is a powerful story about finding common ground on climate and environmental issues—no matter your background or beliefs. The Coast Film Foundation is proud to serve as the fiscal sponsor for this timely project, helping to bring its message of unity and action to audiences everywhere.

We’re working to raise $25,000 in donations through our fiscal sponsorship program, with every dollar directly supporting the production and impact of this important film.
