Chet Ripley (John Candy), his wife Connie (Stephanie Faracy), and their two boys head to the idyllic Lake Potowotominimac for a peaceful getaway. Their plans for fishing and family bonding are abruptly ruined when Connie’s obnoxious, fast-talking brother-in-law, Roman Craig (Dan Aykroyd), his wife Kate (Annette Bening), and their creepy twin daughters arrive unannounced.
